tank

about

i'm an engineer who builds end-to-end systems. the through-line across the work has been the data architecture — how information moves between hardware, firmware, mobile, and cloud without dropping or lying along the way. i've gone deep into each of those layers at different points, and worn the hats of a software engineer, an embedded engineer, a product manager, and a founder along the way.

shwetank is the full name; tank came from the last four letters of it back in school. no big story behind it — it just stuck, and at some point i started owning it.

work

i co-founded tweek labs out of college. we built a wearable motion-capture suit1 and the analytics platform behind it — used by professional sports teams. acquired by ultrahuman in 2024.

at ultrahuman i kept the platform running for a while, then switched to a new project: a wrist wearable that picks up muscle-level signals from the skin2 — quieter biology than what consumer wrist wearables usually try to measure. five hardware iterations, taken to pilot production.

where i work from

i was born in patna and grew up between patna and mumbai. went to delhi for college, then worked between delhi and bangalore after that. settled in bangalore now.

the last year has been different. i've spent more than a third of it in shenzhen, dealing with vendors. took a while to get used to the food — eventually i grew to like it. and when i could get out of the factories, i traveled around south china. it's extremely beautiful.

music

there should always be music running. i think life is better with a soundtrack, so i keep one going most of the day — in my earphones, or in my head. open-ear headphones (shokz openrun) help; i'm in the world and quietly scoring it at the same time.

when i'm doing something that needs precision — mechanical assembly, two pieces that have to mate exactly — i play the docking scene from interstellar in my head. the assembly just happens, perfectly.
